Try my Special Recipe Chocolate Chip Cookies! This batch makes one dozen good sized chocolate chip cookies. They’re thick and chewy, and have the right amount of vanilla and chocolate flavor! These cookies are perfect for a bake sale. Just double or triple the batch as needed. Enjoy! Looking for more dessert recipes? Check out my desserts playlist by clinking here: Desserts Playlist
Melted butter makes for a chewy, dense cookie. I like the way melted butter makes the chocolate chips glossy and pretty. Allow the butter to cool slightly before adding to the other ingredients.
Try using a stainless steel cookie scoop to make sure all cookies are the same size. This will help them bake evenly. I love the durability of Vollrath stainless dishers if you can find them. I’ll add links for scoops below.
I love baking chocolate chip cookies of all kinds. I’m constantly creating new and different recipes for chocolate chip cookies, including gluten free options, cookie bar style (coming soon!) a chocolate chip cookie pie (in the works) and many more. Stay tuned!

Chocolate Chip Cookies - Special Recipe
Ingredients
- 3/4 c. melted butter (I used unsalted, 1 1/2 sticks)
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 1/2 c. flour (about 10.6 oz.)
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/3 c. chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. (I use the convection setting on my oven.)
- In a mixing bowl, add melted butter, sugar, vanilla, and brown sugar. Mix well. Mix in one large egg.
- Next, measure flour using ounces. If using measuring cups, make sure to fluff up the flour before measuring, and do not pack the cups.
- Add baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix until almost combined. Fold in chocolate chips. Try not to over mix the dough. Mix just until combined.
- Scoop dough into 12 equal potrions, roll into balls, and flatten slightly. Line baking sheets with parchment paper. I like to bake 6 cookies per tray.
- Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 14 to 16 minutes. Keep check on browning. Baking times will vary depending on your oven. Enjoy!
